Since I can

When working for Interac I actually followed their rule of not posting pictures of the students on the net.

But now I can!

I am....

STRESSED! FREAKING OUT! WORRIED!! Aghhhhh.

Getting an apartment in Japan is soooo frustrating!

Time for a change

Its been a year! Wow. It sure doesn't feel like it. How about you?
I really wish it went by slower. Oi.

Unfortunately, I will not be working with my current company come March 25th. So, I freaked out for about a week and didn't do much more than apply to every job there is in Japan.

Luckily, I had two part time jobs I could ask for more hours/days and I now don't have to worry. I will be working more hours but that means more money. My weekend will be Sunday and Monday but I have a friend with the same so we plan on maximizing that time with random trips. One downside is lack of summer and winter vacation. Boo.

I am in the process of looking for a new apartment. In Japan, that is no easy feat. Most places require an exorbitant amount of money to move in. To move into my current one I had to shell out close to $2500. Get the idea? Plus, you need a guarantor to sign the contract as well. Its quite tough to get a Japanese person/company to take responsibility for some "stupid foreigner" in Japan.

In other news, despite this hiccup, I have been quite busy and having a lot of fun. I have to make some dedicated blog posts for such things as my weekend in the mountains at a hot spring resort, my day trip via car (I rented a car finally!) to Izu, random Japanese gatherings, and finally student photos!

Lots to come!

But, I sure am lazy. This blog thing isn't much fun lately. Add the pressure of finding a place to live within the next week and half and it is even less fun.

Cafe Mustache

A sign from a recent mountain trip:

Graduation

Today was the third year student's graduation. It consisted of a 2 hr ceremony in the gym that seemed to take much longer. The gym has no heat so an hour after the portable heaters were shut off I believe everyone was as freezing as me. Lots of bowing, singing, speeches. Oh, and lots of girls crying.

After, everyone gathers outside and waits for the third years to show up to leave forever. I was outside for an hour and half straight taking pictures with eeevvveerryyone. Of course, I forgot my camera. I will upload my cellphone pics but eh, they wont do the day justice.

Another responsibility I took upon myself was to help the hundred or so crying girls. Its only junior high school right? Well, sorta. From here, they all go separate ways to different high schools. Sure they all live in the same area but from here on out they are on their own when they get to high school. Kinda like college.

My adult student tonight said that high schoolers in Japan are "adults." While I don't agree 100%, there is some truth to that since they are put under a helluva lot more stress and subjected to a lot more responsibility than our American counterpart.

First snow!

The first snow in Fujisawa is tonight!
I heard its supposed to accumulate to 5cm but I doubt that. Anyway, every little bit makes me happy :)
